Depending on where you live summer is starting to wind down and it’s only a matter of time before fall hits. After my last post, I’m looking to post something more mellow. didn’t I say I was gonna give a comics update at some point?
I’m planning on going to SPX (Small Press Expo) in Maryland next weekend as an attendee! SPX is an independent comics publishing expo (and a non-profit organization). I’ve always wanted to go just for fun so I’m excited!! I’ll be wandering around and checking out panels and maybe talking to people, haha. If you somehow know what I look like, please say hi! I will pretend like I never wrote this so I don’t stress out about it lol. I may have a few stickers with me to give away as well! Maybe I’ll print out a few copies of one of my comics zine style, who knows!
Stickers are still on sale right now. I’ve been having a really hard time getting any kind of reach on social media at the moment. I know that these sorts of things take time, that’s why I have such a long sale window. I’m hoping with posting some of my animation work, I’ll be able to attract more eyeballs. Please spread the word if you can,I really appreciate it!
I do wanna run a quick poll, not about newsletters, but online store fronts! Which do you prefer using?
I’m still using Ko-Fi at the moment but I’d like to get a feel of what others are using or like to use whether you’re selling or buying. Is there one that I should know about that isn’t in the poll? Lemme know in the comments!
Lastly, I wanna leave a couple videos that I saw this morning from Adam Duff at LUCIDPIXEL.
One of his videos just happened to pop up in my recommended on Youtube, and since I woke up really early, I ended up binging a bunch. When I was in college and had no idea what I was doing with my life (not much has changed tbh), I used to watch art videos like his and Bobby Chiu’s all the time. I think these sort of personal, art pep talks really helped keep me focused and continuing to make art through the uncertainty. I don’t listen to them as much now anymore, but it’s nice that they’re there when I need them (even if I don’t know that I do). I like Adam’s earnestness in his videos and how he really seems to want to help people, so maybe one of these videos will help one of you.
Also happy Labor Day to my fellow American workers out there!
Take care!
